Qigong for Health and Vitality - put on your "must-do" list

This introduction to Qigong, prepared by Andrew Broadhead is divided into four modules and comes with a DVD showing the 18 postures of Tai Chi Qigong he describes in his course and a CD of relaxing music to accompany the practice. It can be a wonderful complement for someone interested in starting or already practicing Qigong. What makes this short course stand out is that it puts the emphasis on deep understanding of Qigong. You are not just shown a series of exercises and movements with the promise that it will have a deep impact on your wellbeing, you are also taught the philosophy and principles behind this ancient art which will make your practice of Qigong even more meaningful. Usually when attending a class the history and philosophy of Tai Chi Qigong are not taught to the students and we may feel at times that something is missing. Andrew takes the student on a fascinating journey throughout the course: various subjects are covered: from the meridians to Chinese medicine, from Taoism to I-Ching, this ancient art of divination. Throughout the course, Andrew puts the emphasis on deepening the student’s understanding of the practice of Qigong and the importance or chi, the life force ‘within and without’ all of us.

Thanks to the DVD and detailed explanations of each posture and its significance, it is possible for someone totally new to Qigong to start practicing in the comfort of their own home. Many people do not have the opportunity of attending classes and others simply prefer to practice at home, at their own pace and on their own. Andrew’s course enables to do just that, giving us not only the chance to discover an ancient art which will help balance our energies and improve our health and wellbeing but also broadening our minds. Without doubt, this short course is more than a simple introduction, it is in-depth, well-written and thought-provoking. The student finishing it will be more than prepared to carry on practising on their own.
