“It
is very exciting that you are providing the first distance learning course (in
the world) which meets the National Occupational Standards and the Aromatherapy
Council standards and that we are able to promote it.”- Joyce West - Chair, Aromatherapy
& Allied Practitioners’ Association.
This is mapped to the Core Curriculum of the lead body for UK aromatherapy:
the Aromatherapy Council. It enables the student to join professional bodies
and regulators upon completion of the full programme (includes 6 mandatory tutorials/Guided
Learning Hours). The course consists of 9 modules including 3 Anatomy, Physiology
& Pathology modules and 2 generic modules.
The diploma course uses the AAPA portfolio system. The tutorials will cover
your practical technique, exploring the therapeutic relationship, business and
marketing and more. Students therefore have the choice to take the theoretical
distance learning aspect only and attend a workshop(s) of their choice and this
will enable them to set up as a therapist. Alternatively you can attend the
94 hours practical element at the college to qualify to join the register and
become a member of the Aromatherapy & Allied Practitioners’ Association
(AAPA). This is also the option to undertake for the diploma with City &
Guilds – see the Kevala Prospectus for full details. This will incur extra
exam fees for the City and Guilds certification.
