Testimonial regarding Nutrition and Detoxification

2nd November 2008

Dear Everyone at Kevala,

Please find attached the final module-for-marking of the excellent Detox Certificate Course.

This is to thank you all for your help, tuition and inspiration which 3 Kevala courses have given me over the past 4 years.

About four years ago I was very disillusioned and disappointed with the health care offered to my family and myself, (a mixture of low mood, chronic fatigue, Polycystic Ovary Sydrome, obesity, clinical euthyroidism, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, sore joints and muscles, brain fog, etc, what a group of miseries we were then!). I was ‘hooked’ on finding out more about Nutrition and Neutriceuticals after reading self-help books on Hypothyroidism, and started researching other answers in complementary medicine and naturopathy.

Four years later, we are presently a much happier and healthier bunch (dogs and cats too), thanks partly to complementary energy therapies but mainly to the wisdom learned in Nutritional Therapy (old course), Nutritional Adviser (new course) and the Detox Certificate (which I think every student should take, to help to see ‘the big picture’ of many ailments). Samantha Flower’s two excellent tutorials last year in North London were also very useful.

During studying for these courses, I have got more and more into nutrition, what exactly a healthy diet is, and how Good Nutrition can offer support to other people who have been told by NHS Healthcare Professionals that either “There is nothing wrong with You”, or “Conventional medicine can do nothing to help You”, or that the only ‘solution’ is to go on prescriptions which at most may only manage the symptoms, and at worst leave unpleasant side-effects.

Now I am bursting with energy (both mental and physical energy, a totally different person from the saddie 4 years ago), and am inspired by the growing evidence base which scientifically and robustly proves (to the scientists and Healthcare Professionals, if they were to look at it) the efficacy and place of Nutritional Therapy.

Aware that my current qualification of Nutritonal Adviser is like the first step on the NT ladder, I have been researching future qualifications and have decided, with the increasing number of robust clinical trials and articles about NT, to go the ‘scientific’ route so I can join other NTs out there who can confidently ‘talk the science’ to the left-brained scientists and medics, and show the proof of NT to the NHS for example.

This means that I have just enrolled onto the BSc Hons Nutritional Therapy course at CNELM, and now feel able to handle the science and biochemistry because the course looks clearly-written and because spot-on Kevala courses have enabled the ‘big picture’ to be lodged in my brain and in my way of thinking.

Once again, thank you all at Kevala, especially tutors Samantha Flower and Heather Nicholson, and the team who wrote the courses. Special thanks also go to super Administrators Laura, Liz and colleagues for their continuous support and whole course co-ordination.

With thanks and best wishes,

AET
