Fruitful nutritional study with KevalaStudying nutrition has always been on my list of things to do since my early twenties. I remember when I was grocery shopping trying to figure out which were the foods that would better supply the nutrients required by my body. I believed that food carried within its own soul, its unique gift for us under its skin. And I was fascinated by its potential in terms of preventative health.
But it wasn’t until my late thirties that I “bumped” onto the Kevala Website while looking for a nutritional school on the internet.
I did like the school at first sight, even the colours of the web site felt right for me.
I am Italian and English is for me my second tongue, but I found that the English of the course was perfectly clear and I had no problem at all in completing my modules as the study course progressed. And I was thrilled by text content updated to the most recent studies.
The first accomplishment reached through the Nutritional Course was the discovering of the reasons why I was not loosing weight despite following strictly a diet program and exercising three times a week. After studying module eight I performed a Barnes Test on myself and I went to the doctor asking her to take a blood test as I was suspecting an under functioning thyroid. She looked at me as she would look at a hypochondriac but she agreed on the test. And I was right, but the suspect would never have come up to my mind if it wasn’t that I was studying this nutritional course!
I also think that many nutritional problems are linked to the lifestyle of our time. This is why I started a second course with Kevala in “Stress Management” which I am finding quite enlightening and I feel it is one of the natural complements to nutrition.
Last I would like to mention that I am a mother of two children aged four and six and that I found it extremely shocking that important nutritional facts are unknown to average people, especially to parents who are responsible of proper nutrition for their children. It is obvious that we live in a child centered society, where often parents give in to children requests without thinking in depth about the real consequences on the whole. So I started writing short tales addressed to children aged around ten years old. The purpose is to spread awareness about the commercial food industry. Using the child to reach the parent, who in the end is the one who makes the grocery shopping for the family. I am hoping to have the book published within a couple of months. Its title will be “Foody Fairy Tales”. I will keep my fingers crossed in order for the book to reach its information goal and for myself to start a new career outside the household kingdom.
Best Wishes to all Kevala students,
Mariantonietta Capasso in Davi (Ethiopia)
